Schedule Available No Comments

As posted on Facebook recently, we’re still making progress with Falcon Live since the shutdown of Mixer.  When I recently looked through Twitch, I saw there was an area for posting a schedule, and it had me thinking … why not post something so you know what’s going on and when?  So, now we have a schedule and it’s available right here on Falcon Live!  Please remember that this schedule will not take effect until at least 2021.

Hey guys, Joe here for Team Falcon. With everything that has been going on in the real world, it has taken its toll with my progress in regards to the Team Falcon network as a whole.  Plenty of things have been changing in my life that have kept me super distracted from taking care of a whole lot of things … including myself, if I were to be honest.  As we roll into August, things are starting to wind down a little bit enough that I can finally get back to work.

Here’s what to expect:

Falcon Live
With Mixer no longer existing, Falcon Live is taking the appropriate steps to ensure that all of our content is placed in a new general location at our new Facebook page.  As a reminder, we are no longer hosting our content on YouTube.  Yes, there is a YouTube account associated with our name, but it is the private account of our network’s founder.  Yes, you are still more than welcome to go there and subscribe to his content if you choose.

Team Falcon Gaming
Right now, we just have the base layout of our gaming page.  There’s been some new developments with all 3 of the major consoles lately, and I haven’t had a chance to keep up with them.  In due time, more updates are coming.  Stay tuned.

The other thing I want to touch base on is that we are aware that not all features are functioning correctly with all of our themes.  Depending on the theme you’re viewing, you may run into some display errors.  Again, we are aware of the situation, and we’re working on ensuring that all features are implemented correctly sitewide.  We appreciate your patience in this matter, and we’re continuing to do what we can to ensure that no matter where you are in Team Falcon, you can do it in whichever way you choose.

If you have any questions, comments, or concerns … please feel free to leave a comment below.

Even More Site Improvements No Comments

As we start into July, there have been many changes have been coming through the entire Team Falcon Network as of late, and we are already starting to roll out Falcon v4.1 with some interesting changes.  From Mixer closing its doors in late July to network/family changes happening in August, to tonight … Finally, our news stories in relation to Falcon Live have received yet another huge upgrade today!  As of this moment, any new post related to Falcon Live will be posted to our front page (with the other announcements and whatnot), and will simultaneously be posted on our main Falcon Live page.  This includes the ability to comment on any post.  Unlike our main page, you will only see the first 5 stories when looking on the Falcon Live page.  For the full archive, you can click here.  For our staff, you will be able to easily Edit or Delete any post on the Falcon Live page as well.  This huge upgrade to the channel will assist in saving time for editing and allow for post archives at the same time!

With this new change, it further influences our decision to relaunch Falcon Gaming with the following bullet points:

  • All Falcon Gaming news will be shown on the front page as well as the Falcon Gaming page
  • Console specific news will be posted in 3 key areas:
    • Team Falcon Front Page
    • Falcon Gaming “Front” Page
    • That console’s news area

It may not be on day one, but we plan on having our gaming posts also feature links to their specific forum area.  Most of these changes can be seen in Team Falcon’s beta theme, but we assure you that Version 4.1 will be pushed out very soon.  More information about all changes are available in our Changelog.

Update on Falcon Live No Comments

Hey guys, as you found out the other day, plenty of things are changing with Falcon Live! Including how our news is presented!  For the first time, we now have a WYSIWYG editor for our news postings!  We wanted to have some new integrations with Facebook, but the WordPress Plugins we wanted to use are not working the way we wanted.  So, we decided to find a way to improve this a little more!  There will also be some visual differences in the next couple days, and that’s not including yesterday’s surprising announcement of Mixer closing its doors as of July 22nd. On that subject, though … Facebook Gaming will be “taking the reigns” of Mixer, and that means that some huge changes are happening with Falcon Live.  Like what, though?

  1. Streamlabs has relaxed their profile page editing limitations and now allows customizations to profile pages.  Not 100%, but enough to now give us the ability to do what we want to do.
  2. Donations will be made within Streamlabs instead of PayPal.  Donations are still secured.
  3. Facebook Gaming will adopt what we currently have on YouTube, and YouTube will be removed from Falcon Live.
  4. Twitch archives will be uploaded to our new Facebook Gaming channel, and the Facebook Gaming label will be called Archives.
  5. If we’re not going live anytime soon, our “Live Next” box will be entirely gone.  We will turn it on within 72 hours (3 days) of our next broadcast, or you can check out our schedule on our Twitch Profile (coming soon).
  6. Our Live Stream page has been updated with a new Twitch Plugin to give further control of our streams and chat.  This also improved our layout even more!

Aside from the Falcon Live page, a new widget is being placed in the Team Falcon site header that will show you our current live status for Falcon Live as well, no matter what page you’re on!  When we’re live, you’ll know!

Falcon Live Changes No Comments

As of July 22nd, Mixer will cease to exist.  Essentially speaking, they realized that streaming like that was way too much to handle, and had offered some interesting alternatives for the time being, including Twitch & Streamlabs OBS.  To keep the community going though, Facebook Gaming will be “taking the reigns” so to speak.  If you’re an Xbox gamer (like me) who likes to stream live, this is a real blow, and changes my entire perspective of how things are gonna go with the Xbox Series X console.

So, what does this mean for Falcon Live?  Well, 2 things will happen on August 1st.  First, Facebook Gaming is nothing like Twitch, but more like YouTube.  While we love our YouTube community, we’re making the decision that on August 1st, YouTube will be removed from Falcon Live.  And second, Mixer was the one community that gave us the opportunity to integrate with Discord.  We’re hoping that there will be a deeper integration with WordPress enabled websites (through a plugin) at some point.  After August 1st, the Team Falcon Discord will be deleted from the Team Falcon site until further notice.  The Discord group will remain indefinitely.

And, a 3rd thing will happen next week.  On our Falcon Live page, we do have a “Latest News” spot now, but this section will be removed next week in favor of a Facebook widget on the Falcon Live page.  This new widget will have our news stories instead, and will allow our Facebook Live community to participate by reacting to our posts and commenting as well!  As you can imagine, there’s a lot of ground to cover in the next month!
