Hey guys, Joe here for Team Falcon. With everything that has been going on in the real world, it has taken its toll with my progress in regards to the Team Falcon network as a whole. Plenty of things have been changing in my life that have kept me super distracted from taking care of a whole lot of things … including myself, if I were to be honest. As we roll into August, things are starting to wind down a little bit enough that I can finally get back to work.
Here’s what to expect:
Falcon Live With Mixer no longer existing, Falcon Live is taking the appropriate steps to ensure that all of our content is placed in a new general location at our new Facebook page. As a reminder, we are no longer hosting our content on YouTube. Yes, there is a YouTube account associated with our name, but it is the private account of our network’s founder. Yes, you are still more than welcome to go there and subscribe to his content if you choose.
Team Falcon Gaming Right now, we just have the base layout of our gaming page. There’s been some new developments with all 3 of the major consoles lately, and I haven’t had a chance to keep up with them. In due time, more updates are coming. Stay tuned.
The other thing I want to touch base on is that we are aware that not all features are functioning correctly with all of our themes. Depending on the theme you’re viewing, you may run into some display errors. Again, we are aware of the situation, and we’re working on ensuring that all features are implemented correctly sitewide. We appreciate your patience in this matter, and we’re continuing to do what we can to ensure that no matter where you are in Team Falcon, you can do it in whichever way you choose.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns … please feel free to leave a comment below.
A last minute decision was made to modify a couple things in the Header field of Team Falcon, mainly as a test that passed with flying colors. Since we just rolled out Version 4.1, we figure it wouldn’t hurt to push this out just a few days late.
The “Search” box is no longer as a widget on the right side of the page. Since some of our pages didn’t have a “right side” area for widgets, this was limiting what we can (and can’t) do. We wanted to increase the ability to do a sitewide search everywhere. But, what would we do with the information that’s there? The answer was simple, with inspiration from our new Modern themes (not available to the public yet), we wanted to get the same idea on our current Legacy themes. And, you know what? They look good!
We’re still on track to get Version 5 out at the end of the year, and this is a project that I didn’t think I’d ever be able to get done.
So, I was looking at Facebook, and going over the different content I have between Team Falcon & Falcon Live, and I made some startling discoveries. While I made the Falcon Live Facebook page on June 22nd, I uploaded most of my content just 4 days ago, and I have 1 video that has been reached out to over 6,300 people on one video! I was not expecting that whatsoever! We have decided to announce on both Facebook pages that we will be shutting down Team Falcon (on Facebook) as of July 18th (4 days before Mixer’s closure) and retaining Falcon Live only … mostly considering Falcon Live has a lot more available content and has already proven itself more worthy than YouTube.
The Team Falcon website will remain and feature “one stop” access for everything in the Falcon brand. From Team Falcon Gaming to showing live content to the (potential) return of the Team Falcon Shop where you can buy a t-shirt, sweatshirt, mug, hat … whatever you desire. Speaking about Team Falcon Gaming, we’re needing a little more help when it comes to content for the PlayStation 4 (and PS5) as well as the Nintendo Switch. If you’re willing to help us, that would be amazing! No, we are not able to offer you payment at this time, but I’m sure we can figure something out!
After some early testing, we were able to detect early that the programming for our new theme system was breaking different WordPress Plugins. This includes BuddyPress, the plugin that maintains our social networking. We consider this a huge win in our F.A.I.L. plan. With an entirely new system, it was definitely our First Attempt In Learning. At least we will have something to look forward to at a later date, right?
We know what you’re thinking, too … “Wow, these guys are pushing out site updates left and right!” Yes, we can definitely agree with that statement, but as you can see, we’re pushing out ideas “left and right” and the Team Falcon site has just been an endless project! Just when we think that our list is complete, we get more ideas and if you think about it, that is never a bad thing.
Falcon 5 will be tested only at Joe’s World, and it will not be widespread through the Team Falcon network until everything is fully operational without any glitches. We’re not expecting this until at least October. Until that time, Falcon 4 (what you see here) will continue to be developed.
An old tool that I completely forgot had finally come to mind and I wanted to see if it still worked. Turns out it does! So, I decided to put it to good use. Just when we thought that we were done with RSS Feeds, they’re back and it’s now even easier to subscribe to them! Our feeds are 100% syndicated with FeedBurner, and it helps us find out just how many people are taking advantage of our feeds.
If you currently follow our RSS Feeds with our old links, we suggest that you update your RSS readers to point to our new links. Your RSS reader will still operate the way it should, but there will be some slight visual differences.
As of today, we’re in the process of relaunching our Gaming project. Our biggest problem that we had the first time around was being able to post a news story (like this one) and have it be posted on a page that we want it on. Falcon Live was our first “test”, and it worked exactly the way we wanted it to! With the new Team Falcon Gaming, we’ll be able to post news stories on our site as well as the Team Falcon Gaming page (and if it’s console based, it will also be posted on that specific console page as well)! We’re super excited to try out these new changes!
On top of all of that, we’ve also come across some new coding to help us test out some more features to disable things on our main pages unless you’re on the Beta site. This will help when we’re pushing out new features that we know will be broken unless you’re in a specific user class. More to come on this at a later date.
As we start into July, there have been many changes have been coming through the entire Team Falcon Network as of late, and we are already starting to roll out Falcon v4.1 with some interesting changes. From Mixer closing its doors in late July to network/family changes happening in August, to tonight … Finally, our news stories in relation to Falcon Live have received yet another huge upgrade today! As of this moment, any new post related to Falcon Live will be posted to our front page (with the other announcements and whatnot), and will simultaneously be posted on our main Falcon Live page. This includes the ability to comment on any post. Unlike our main page, you will only see the first 5 stories when looking on the Falcon Live page. For the full archive, you can click here. For our staff, you will be able to easily Edit or Delete any post on the Falcon Live page as well. This huge upgrade to the channel will assist in saving time for editing and allow for post archives at the same time!
With this new change, it further influences our decision to relaunch Falcon Gaming with the following bullet points:
All Falcon Gaming news will be shown on the front page as well as the Falcon Gaming page
Console specific news will be posted in 3 key areas:
Team Falcon Front Page
Falcon Gaming “Front” Page
That console’s news area
It may not be on day one, but we plan on having our gaming posts also feature links to their specific forum area. Most of these changes can be seen in Team Falcon’s beta theme, but we assure you that Version 4.1 will be pushed out very soon. More information about all changes are available in our Changelog.
Just when I thought Falcon Live was going to be the only thing changing, it seems that there will be some further changes involving our own network partner, Rewind Hosting and other projects. Depending on how things go over the next month, Rewind Hosting & The Xbox Universe may be discontinued due to a new project taking over. This new project will not be affiliated with Team Falcon in any way, shape or form. Due to some naming issues, no site, and not a whole lot to go off of, I will not be announcing a site name or providing you guys with a link to anything until things are more concrete. More information will be available around July 15th. By August 1st, Falcon Gaming may return, but that remains up in the air at this time.
Falcon Gaming will provide details on PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo where The Xbox Universe focused on … well, Xbox. I’ll provide what I can about Nintendo & PlayStation, but considering I only own an Xbox, that will be a little difficult at times. But, again … that will all be at a later date, and Falcon Gaming returning is not 100% confirmed as is.
In 2003, the default design for this site was brought into my possession. After a few different (failed) projects between 2004 & 2005, I decided to back off for a little bit. In early 2018, I figured I’d venture into a new thing … theme design for WordPress, and as you can see, it’s working out very well in my favor! In 2018, I brought the site back to life and I made the first theme modifications ever to it. In 2019 through today, the trend continued with new projects. The most recent addition of “themes” gave me some ideas, and I kinda want to take it a step further.
When we released Falcon 3 in March, we were already looking ahead to Falcon 4’s release in the future, little did we know that it would happen in just 3 months time. I know, rather quick! When we were planning for Falcon 4, we were using a plugin for Dark Mode before, then we saw another plugin where users can choose their theme. So, we put our heads together and started developing themes for your viewing pleasure! More will come in the future, too! So, long story short, Falcon 4 focused on the start of themes.
Falcon 5’s plan? We’re trying to step away from WordPress’s control panel and having full customization done through our site and theme. This includes setting up the site and also different user preferences … both for our regular members, and some exclusive features for our VIP members! The real fun is in the beginning where we start programming it, and the visual stuff won’t probably happen until at least August. We will be working on some other things as well and we will be rolling out those features gradually.
Don’t forget, you can start seeing our early work with our Betachannel theme at any time!
