As promised, we have added that special line of code needed in order for you to choose between the regular Team Falcon site and the new Beta site.  And, after some further testing, we have determined the following:

  • Light, Dark* & Beta themes will be free for all members of Team Falcon
  • New themes beyond these 3 will be exclusive to VIP members

As a reminder, Team Falcon VIP is just $20 a year and will help us with new projects!  And, our Dark (*) theme will be available later this year.

Falcon 4 in Beta No Comments
Written by Falcon on 5/25/2020 at 1:16pm in Announcements

Last week, we were ready to release an update, dubbed Version 3.2.  And, shortly after we released it, we ran into some minor issues that made us have to go back and return to Version 3.1.  We fixed the bugs, but we left out the new features, and we called it Version 3.1.1.  Now, 3.1.1’s update gave us a chance to start fresh with our previous issues and work our way back up.  When we were able to get everything to work flawlessly, we called it Version 3.5.  Then, an idea hit.  Why not have 3.5 just have 1 thing … one small, yet huge thing?  While Version 3.5 only got half of the Falcon 4 header, it also gained the ability to change themes.  Falcon 4’s plan is to focus on those themes, but we want to test that even further with the relaunch of our Beta program.

New “Cookie” No Comments
Written by Falcon on 5/25/2020 at 12:49pm in Announcements

Cookies have been used in browsing forever, and that includes when you create your user account at any website, whether it’s Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or even right here at Team Falcon.  When you came here the first time after we launched a new tool, we had a box at the bottom that said something along the lines of “This site uses cookies, by continuing here, you agree to the terms written.”  We don’t track your stats, we don’t look at your computer, we don’t do anything with it.  It’s just a very tiny file that is placed on your computer that tells your browser “Hey, this is their personal settings, they want their password to be remembered (optional), etc.”.  And, by “personal settings”, we mean the new Theme system that we programmed earlier this morning.  One thing I failed to realize is that when you switch your theme, it would automatically reset back to the main theme after 1 hour (60 minutes).  The code has just been modified so the cookie would expire after 1 year.

A lot can happen in 1 year, and if you like the current status of the Team Falcon site after a year, that’s fine.  We’re hoping that we can somehow extend the cookie expiration time to an indefinite period of time rather than having to reset once a year, but that will be looked into at a later time.

Update 3.5: Beta Returns No Comments
Written by Falcon on 5/24/2020 at 3:33pm in Announcements

Ladies & Gentlemen, we’re happy to announce Falcon 3.5!  Right now, we are actively testing new features to make sure that it’s ready for the public!  While minor, it’s still huge, and that’s also the plan for Falcon 4, and we’ll talk about that when we get there.  But, on the top right of the page, you will see a new header area with your username, what theme you have selected, and what your membership plan is.  With the new themes that we have planned later, we called our main theme Light.  When we release Falcon 4, our first official new theme will be called Black.  And, it will basically correct all of the color issues that you see with the current Dark Mode WP Plugin.  All of our color testing will be done off-site.

So, how does it all work?  Well:

  • Theme
Pick a theme to view Team Falcon in.  There’s only 2 to pick from right now (Light & Beta).  The “Light” theme represents what you know today, and the new Beta theme represents the future.  We’ve already begun with new changes so you have something to check out!  We’re also highlighting the changes in the official Changelog for Falcon 4 already.  To change your theme, click the theme title that you have selected right now (which is most likely “Light”), then you will be taken to a new Display Options page where you can change your theme.
  • Membership
Because we’re working hard at making our VIP program useful, we had to modify our header so we can show you what user class you’re part of.  And, if I said I didn’t need your money to help pay for the technology advancements to make Team Falcon beyond amazing, then I’d be lying.  However, my yearly rate price has dropped from $50 to $20 because of some plugin troubles that caused me to change my approach.

Discord Returns No Comments

So, while our Discord server has been active still, we haven’t been “advertising” it.  We wanted to somehow integrate Discord into Team Falcon a little better than what it was, however it’s a little more difficult than we had planned.  For now, we are just giving you a direct link into our server, but we want to eventually have the ability to give you guys special Discord-only rooms for being a VIP member.  We’re not taking away anything, we’re offering more.

So, what’s the difference?  Well, on the website, we have Team Falcon VIP, and on Discord, we have Falcon+.  We assure you that Falcon+ is not changing or going away.  Access to Falcon+ is currently only given if you are a subscriber to our official Mixer channel, and we want to integrate Falcon+ into our VIP plan to enhance our ability to give you more live chat rooms.  Keep in mind, you need to have a Discord membership (which is 100% free) if you want to participate in our live text/voice/video chat rooms.  Further integration that we will eventually have include achievements (which we can also do manually) and synced user groups, but that’s just the beginning!

Come have some fun on Discord!

Falcon 4 Preperations No Comments
Written by Falcon on 5/19/2020 at 6:06pm in Announcements

While I’m still a ways off on launching Falcon 4, preparations have already begun to get everything setup!  The main focus this time around is to utilize every single WordPress resource.  New features planned include:

  • A better filesystem
  • Team Falcon Search 2.0
  • Image Viewer
  • Attachment Downloader
  • And more …

With every update that’s made, we’re closing the gap on all of our loopholes.  In the end, we’ll hopefully have even less of a reason to have most of our WordPress add-ons.  Some will remain due to customization options, but our main focus is to have more built-in.

Dark Mode & New Logo Update No Comments
Written by Falcon on 5/12/2020 at 2:17am in Announcements

Testing continues for Dark Mode 2.0, and tests are going quite well!  For now, we still have a long way to go before we can allow it to be viewable to the public.  Also on the list of things to (eventually) complete, we will be “fine tuning” our logo for our newly planned themes.  While the logo looks great as is, we eventually want to fix the blackness to be an outline of the general falcon logo rather than a big circle border.

Stay tuned!

Using Edge on Windows 10? No Comments
Written by Falcon on 5/9/2020 at 12:10pm in Announcements

Just a heads up that we’re not getting paid for this post, nor is it an advertisement for Microsoft.  There is just a minor glitch with our programming that the default Microsoft Edge browser that comes with Windows 10 likes to load Team Falcon branded websites in Mobile form since we implemented that feature earlier this year.  For now, the best way to get to the main website (if you are encountering this issue) is to click the “Desktop Site” button on the bottom of the page.

If you haven’t already, I personally recommend downloading the newly updated Chromium-based Microsoft Edge browser.  The new Edge works just like Chrome, but it also doesn’t have all the resource bleeding that comes with Chrome that would cause your computer to work harder than it should.  Plus, I have seen a faster response time through the new Edge compared to Chrome.  Not only will your Team Falcon experience be 100%, but you will also have an easier time with a bunch of websites.  Not to mention all your favorites on your computer will sync to the mobile app on your Android and iOS based devices.

If that’s not good enough, Chrome Extensions and Themes are also compatible with the new Microsoft Edge!  And, they look great!
